About Us Ellsworth Music Supply & Repair is Jefferson County’s first full-line music store. Originally with stores located in Shepherdstown and Charles Town, we are now located in the “Potomac Market Place Shopping Center in Ranson. Directly off of newly opened highway, route 9. Ellsworth Music supplies area musicians, novice to the experienced, with all their musical needs. We stock accessories, music and instruments and expert repairs on all instruments. Ellsworth’s carries brand name band instruments for beginners to professional, available for sale or under our easy rent-to-buy program. We also carry a fine line of orchestral instruments, acoustic, electric and classical guitars and a wide range of percussion instruments. Ellsworth Music is also the first private music teaching institution in the area with professional teachers specializing in almost every instrument.

h1. How to Choose an Instrument It is important to disregard common misconceptions when choosing an instrument. Don’t choose an instrument because it is easier than others. All instruments have specific challenges; one is no easier than the others. Don’t choose an instrument because it will “make you smarter”. The study of any instrument will encourage musical development thus making you smarter. Don’t choose because of gender biases: “only girls play flute” or “only boys play drums and trumpet”. No matter which instrument you choose motivation is the key to success. Many factors can increase motivation in a particular instrument but listening to all kinds of music, and especially attending live performances, will most likely have the biggest influence on what you decide to play now or later on. Is the chosen instrument right for your student? Sometimes the first instrument is not the best. Often trying another instrument results in a happier and more successful endeavor. We don’t encourage trying instruments one after another, but a change can spark a student’s interest and keep the experience positive. What is the best instrument for your child to start on? Monthly fees start at $110.00 per month. You are guaranteed a minimum of four lessons a month, but you may receive as many as five lessons some months for the same fee. 1.
